The Broadway Roastery is probably known best as Saskatoon’s largest independent coffeehouse. Located at the top of the Broadway bridge, it sprawls across a couple of levels, filled with small circular tables. There are a few pastries and such to nibble on, but the focus here is location, location, location. You are at ground zero of Saskatoon’s hipster community at the Roastery where you are as likely to overhear people talking about the band they saw last night as you are to hear about organic farming. You are here to see and be seen.
The coffee and teas offered are good and fair trade coffee is always available. I’m not exactly sure how I feel about getting tea in a big glass mug, but I do like their specialty coffees including ones with Saskatoon berry syrup. Free wi-fi is available as well as beans to purchase to take home.
Grab a table with a friend or watch life pass outside on stools surrounding the windows. The outdoor tables are filled on hot, sunny days.
